Spencerville Mill Foundation

Statement of Purpose
The Spencerville Mill Foundation, owners and operators of the Spencerville Mill, will restore and preserve the Spencerville Mill to ensure it remains an architectural focal point in the community.

As well, the history of the Spencerville Mill from 1811– 1972 and the village of Spencerville will be collected, preserved, researched, and interpreted. Emphasis will be placed on the 1934 feed mill operation and local businesses and trades of that era.

The Spencerville Mill, as a unique and historical venue, will be enhanced by the presentation of educational, cultural, historical, and recreational activities and programmes benefiting visitors and residents of the Municipality of Edwards burgh/Cardinal.

The Spencerville Mill Foundation is a voluntary organization dedicated to historic preservation and interpretation of the Spencerville Mill and the history of the local community.

Much work has also been done to preserve wildlife and conservation areas. Over the past few years the grounds have been transformed into a park area with flower gardens and picnic tables to welcome visitors, wedding parties, family gatherings and special events.

Exterior and interior restoration work is on going. Displays and exhibits are being added to enhance the visitor’s experience. As well, the Spencerville Mill hosts special events and community gatherings demonstrating its vital and unique role to the community.

The Spencerville Mill Foundation depends on its many dedicated volunteers and the financial support of the community. Through community support and partnerships with local business and community organizations much has been accomplished toward developing the Spencerville Mill into a valuable historical resource.
